Retaining The Quality...
| Your newly built East Lake Builders home, although constructed with quality craftsmanship, needs periodic maintenance to guard against unnecessary wear. If your new home is to be at the peak of luxury and beauty, we suggest you focus on areas that need consistent maintenance: |
Caring For Carpet...
| Your carpets should be steam cleaned to keep their nap and to remove dirt and other particles which shorten the carpet's life. It is a good idea to have professional carpet cleaning done twice a year. |
A Good Seal...
| Since most interior caulking usually needs to be dealt with after a year, you should re-caulk once a year. The bathroom will need special attention. Keeping a good caulk will keep water from getting to the wall and floor surfaces behind the tile. |
Landscape...
| Landscaping is important to a beautiful home. We encourage you to have a landscaper come two or three times during the season to professionally prune, fertilize, and clean-up around the yard. Regular care of the property can lead to the landscape looking better than when the house was first moved into. |
Touch Up...
| Check your home's exterior paint and stain. The life of the paint depends on the color and exposure to elements. If signs of weathering are present, you should immediately touch up the area. Doing will decrease the chances of future repairs or replacement to the millwork. |
Wood Care...
| Be aware of the condition of doors. Cabinet and interior doors have the tendency to sag as time passes. Exterior doors can warp because of differences in temperature and humidity inside and outside of the house. |
Blacktop...
| Long-lasting driveways are the result to regular sealing. We suggest you seal the blacktop every year or two, depending on the exposure. Proper maintenance of the surface will yield a longer life and usefulness of the driveway. |
Leaves and Debris...
| Gutters require cleaning at least twice a year. Foundation problems most commonly occur when water build-up is found at the building's perimeter. Although clogged downspouts are not the only factor that can attribute to water build-up, but it is a common culprit. When downspouts are clogged, the water spills over the eave and onto the ground near the foundation. The ground around the house will begin to erode |
Lumination...
| Light bulbs installed in your home's fixtures and recessed cans were chosen in compliance with the manufacturer's specifications. It is preferable to replace the bulbs with ones of the same type and wattage. It can also save inconveniences to replace all bulbs when one goes out. |
Heating...
| It is best to keep furnace fans on. Thermostats have controls for either selecting a continuously running fan or to cycle during heating or cooling. Leaving the fan on during extremely cold weather reduces the heat stratification caused by the cycling furnace system. Another benefit is that more air passes through the air filter. Cleaner and healthier air is the result. |
Hardwood...
| Assess the wear of hardwood floors regularly. Going too long without re-coating the sealer eventually makes it necessary to replace the entire finish. Applying a new coat of sealer is more cost-effective than replacing the finish. Hardwood floors should not be mopped. Clean the surface with a damp cloth and follow up with a dry cloth. Remember that standing water is a quick way to ruin a hardwood floor. |
